RESEARCH INTERESTS:

 

1.     Research protocol, “Intracavernous Injection of Prostaglandin E-1 for the Treatment of Erectile Impotence.”  

 

2.     Co-principal investigator:  Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy with Northgate SD-3 Lithotriptor.  This research project entailed the  investigational use of a new dual-purpose (renal and biliary), ultrasound-guided, spark-gap lithotriptor.

 

3.     Co-principal investigator:  Micturin (Terodiline) for the treatment of detrusor instability.  This research project entailed the investigational use of terodiline for the treatment of uninhibited bladder activity.

 

4.     Developed Mentor Alpha-One Inflatable Penile Prosthesis Database.  This database is an ongoing study evaluating prosthesis reliability and patient satisfaction.  Initial

      results (Urology 43:214-217, 1994), and follow-up results (British Journal of       Urology 78:933-935, 1996) have been published.

 

 

RESEARCH INTERESTS, continued:

 

5.     Clinical Investigator, “Prospective Study of Mentor’s Alpha I Inflatable Penile

      Prosthesis,” 1997-present.  This is an ongoing study of the safety and reliability of

      Mentor’s multiple component inflatable penile implant.

 

PATENTS AND TRADEMARKS:

 

1.     Developed intraluminal prostatic urethral stent for the treatment of bladder outlet obstruction due to benign or malignant prostatic enlargement. United States Patent Number 5,269,802, granted 12/14/93.
